support and a solid presence in the year of design
Milan, February 2008 – Lea Ceramiche, the Fiorano Modenese company that produces ceramic flooring and tiles, has become a proud sponsor of the Turin 2008 World Design Capital, which will be held in the Piedmont capital, named the first world capital of design for the entire year.
The company, a member of the PANARIAGROUP Industrie Ceramiche S.p.A., decided to sponsor the ambitious project that focuses on the city of Turin in 2008 as a venue of workshops, debates, events, special projects, exhibitions, and seminars on the issue of design and an international destination for sector professionals and enthusiasts.
The high design content that characterizes the products and the installations by Lea Ceramiche is the underlying theme of every new project, which has successfully increased the identity of the company and ceramics as a material, whose wide use and enormous versatility have offered new and never prosaic uses.
The partnership between Lea Ceramiche and Diego Grandi has also led to expand the material and conceptual research in recent years, adding to the catalogue new collections that reveal the originality and freedom of ceramic to combine with other materials and its ability to become player of a modern concept of space.
Lea Ceramiche design stories have always been told using the language that best describes the company, ceramics, yet through installations that have investigated more complex scenarios – from non-places to transitional spaces and contemporary spaces, to the issue of out of scale and urban landscapes.
“An intrinsic quality of Lea Ceramiche,” stated Emilio Mussini, managing director of the company, “is how it looks at design as a tangible value and a real opportunity for growth and development. Technology, experimentation, an ability to propose new territories of investigation and application for ceramics, along with the passion and deep understanding of the material, are all aspects that belong to the world of design and have encouraged us over the years to come up with products that reveal exciting stylistic and technological potential.”
In this perspective, its sponsorship of Turin World Design Capital represents a confirmation of a philosophy that embodies multiple and international expressions, all aimed at a desire to support the culture of the project in which we believe and which belongs to us.”
The work of Lea Ceramiche this year of design will also include a concrete presence of ceramics, an evident sign and tangible perspective of the company on the key calendar engagements, to support an exchange and an international enrichment in which the company is involved and which it promotes.
